M3U is a file format that contains the playlist of songs or videos to be played. With this file, you can add a list of channels, audio or video to your iptv application.
You can use M3U files on your computer, mobile phones and tablets. For this purpose, you can use VLC Player. This is a free player that supports all types of media files. Playlists work with Vlc Player, Cherry Player, Roku, Kodi, Smart TV…etc
This page shows how to create an m3u playlist and then add it to iptv application.
M3U playlist creation:
The first step to create M3U playlist is creating a text file with the extension “.m3u”. For example my_playlist.m3u
Next, this file should be opened with any text editor (Notepad for example). The next step is entering the path of your media files into the created playlist. There are several ways to do this. The easiest way to do it is to use Notepad++ and install the plugin called M3UWrite. After installing the plugin you should open a new file in Notepad++ and Save As my_playlist.m3u in the same folder where your media files are located. Then click on Plugins – M3UWrite – Write M3U, which will write all the paths of media files automatically in the playlist you created. You can also use any other text editor to create playlists manually or edit existing playlists if they contain errors.
After creating the M3U file you have to add the IP addresses of the channels you want to see on this playlist. They can be in groups or separated. When you finish, save your playlist and open it with a player. Specific iptv application can play most of the m3u file, so using VLC for example is a good option. Iptv players can be downloaded in their official website.
